Boaky

I recently tested a doctors surgery and found a number of ring mains
are too large. r1 1.9 rn 1.9 r2 2.7. Zs 1.47 supplied from a type 2 32 amp breaker
could anyone suggest how best to rectify this.
Dont really want involved with the remedials but don't usually refuse work.
any of u guys any suggestions

4 FRC in this building and I estimate the wiring about 30 year old
the circuit has been extended at some time but been done properly
with crimp joints in the back of the sockets
the other ring aims are large aswell

So there’s 4 floors, where’s the CU? How did you arrive at the conclusion the RFS is too long? You’ve given no measurements based on fact.
It strikes me there’s a lot we don’t know about this job.

Call me old fashioned, but it was known as Ring main in the good old days, was it not?.

Yes but not now, I think it may have something to do with mixing up the definition between a RFC and a HV Ring, not sure if that's the reason, someone else may have a better idea.

What is the csa of the conductors? Even if you split the ring and down size the breaker ıt could still be over recommended floor area served for that radial type?
Like Tony says above, we have very little info to go on mate.
The OP has seen the job and been asked about the floor area but has been a bit sketchy on it, even without a tape measure I could hazard a rough guess at the buildings footprint, we'd then have a better idea about what advice to give.
We wait with baited breath :)

MV is usually an open ring with two feed in points so not a ring as such. Normally the open point is in the centre of the loading not necessarily the linear centre. In the event of a fault the open point can be moved to enable continuity of supplies.
