DIY
Hello everyone.
I have just purchased a Ring Video Doorbell Pro and want to install it as follows as below. For complete disclosure, I am not a qualified electrician but a responsible and experienced DIYer who wouldn't undertake work I felt was dangerous, and always check the regs to make sure any work is permitted. I believe this work is.
So, I want to install the doorbell as follows.
- Take a spur from a socket on the ring final main circuit. I've check the consumer unit which has a 32 amp MCB protecting this circuit.
- 2.5mm cable to 6A MCB housed in a DIN module.
- 1.5mm cable from the MCB to the 24v transformer supplied with the doorbell. The transformer position next to the MCB in the DIN module
- Bell wire from the transformer to the door bell.
Second, I was toying with the idea of an LED illuminated house number situation near the door bell. Is it possible to take a cable from the 6A MCB to power this (that's two cables from the MCB) or should another configuration be used?
I've attached a sketch of what I've tried to put into words above!
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
