Hi guys,

Just a question on joining one of these. Can you join say nic if you still have a job? probably a silly question but i was thinking about going down the self employed route after completing qualifications but didn't want to just take the plunge and leave my job, go self employed and struggle for business. I have a few jobs coming up in the near future but these would only be weekend jobs and wouldn't really pay the bills! I would like to be nic approved and still have a job that is nothing to do with electrics basically! is this possible?

cheers

does it have to be working as an electrician for a company or doesn't it matter? thats great news if i could register and work at the same time

You can be a milkman if you want, it doesn't matter.

What is key is that you can provide evidence of qualification for the proposed QS and that a expected level of competence can be proven.

Along with all of the other requirements that the scheme provider will make you aware of prior to the visit.
