Good evening all,

I'm first fixing property and customer is having splan system with one rad heating zone, hot water and an additional 2x under floor heating zones.

I've taken a thermostat to 3 different zones. What I'm not sure of is how many cores will I need at the programmer?

The under floor heating system is speed fit. I'm bringing someone else to connect it but would like to try get my head round this too

thanks

Thanks for replies.

ive run 3core and earth to each under floor heating room stat. Will I need a 4 way programmer to control each zone? I.e DHW/CH/ufh zone 1/ufh zone2.
the plumber has only supplied me with programmer with zone for DHW and CH ?

Thanks

4 channel programer could get expensive,, 2 2channels might be a better option.. Might also keep things simpler for customer.. Always handy

Thanks again.

I only have three core and earth at each programable room stat. Looking at the diagram it looks like I don't need a programmer. Am I right?

The zone valve connects into the ufh box of tricks

I understand how splan system work. And have no trouble connecting them. Just don't get it when additional zone or zones added to the system for underfloor heating. I'm going to pay someone to connect it for me and will get a better understanding of it.

Ok, easy peasy. Keep the normal CH and HW seperate from the UFH, programmer, room stat and cylinder stat as normal, then your UFH will have it's own controls. Three core and earth from the UFH controls to each programmable room stat, the pump and zone valve as well as the actuators will wire into these controls. You'll need a T+E from the UFH controls and from the wiring center to the boiler for your switched line conductors. If the controls for the central heating system are local to the boiler then take a feed for the boiler, UFH controls and wiring center for the normal heating controls from one spur nearby. If controls are not local to boiler, you'll need relays at the boiler so your boiler can have it's own feed. The UFH controls should have labelled terminals so are pretty straight forward for anyone to wire.
