Discuss Schedule of items inspected in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

What I am saying is ' protection by barriers and enclosures' can only be done by inspection, not testing

I will have to put my hands up and say that I am wrong. Just had a look at 612.4.5, and they tell you about it...

So as Stumas says, if you have a collection of test fingers, you can do it.

Never thought that it would be as easy as that though, so if you can test to IP2X or IPXXB, or IP4X or IPXXD then you can tick the box! :)

Always happy to be corrected, but I think it would be a LIM in there for me, not an N/A anymore. This is why I love to discuss!

Live parts must be protected against direct contact by insulation. If the insulation is applied during the erection of the installation, the quality of the insulation must be verified by tests equivilant to those required in British Standards for similar equipment. It is generally completly impractible for installers to apply such tests on site and therefore the use of factory build assemblies is preffered.
So if you have not built the assembly and provided the insulation yourself then it is N/A in relevant box.

Are we thinking about site applied insulation now, as that seems to be more what that is...

I think this may be where I have had a bit of a cross over, as they were both together on the old 16th sheets. I can't even think at the moment whether site applied insulation is still a tick box on the 17th sheets, is it?

site applied does not seem to appear on 17th but inulation of live parts does im getting a headache see you soon and thanks lol

Never, you cannot put n/a in that section, to me, barriers and enclosures means, damage to the cover of a db, socket outlet, light switch, ad box, etc which could result in access to live parts is v necessary to the inspection
