Discuss Schedule of items inspected in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

Are we thinking about site applied insulation now, as that seems to be more what that is...

I think this may be where I have had a bit of a cross over, as they were both together on the old 16th sheets. I can't even think at the moment whether site applied insulation is still a tick box on the 17th sheets, is it?

I have been thinking about site applied insulation (I need more sleep).

Sorry Lenny, I would have to disagree with you on that one. As this is under the schedule of items tested, it is (as far as I am aware ;) ) to do with the very rare occasion that you have constructed an enclosure on site for electrical equipment, and that you have tested it to the required standards set out in the relevant BS EN number. This would be nowadays BS EN 60439.

Just my thoughts, but this has been discussed with my area engineer as it's been one of the items that I have not been sure of myself...

I am happy to be corrected though! :)

Define to me an enclosure.....basically a box with electric bits inside. Point i was trying to make was that a CU for example is an enclosure which when you buy conforms to the relevant standard. After installation however i.e, when you have drilled out or knocked out the knockouts, have you done this correctly and not left any holes that someone could poke their BS finger into...

That again has been my discussion with Mr NIC a while ago.:)

As discussed, I actually changed my mind a bit after a while and both me and Sintra were thinking about the old site applied insulation box.

But after reading up a bit more, realise that I don't have a set BS test gauges to test to IP2X and IP4X which would be required to
tick this box... And can't say I know anyone who has. So my point was unless you have these fingers, then there's no way you can tick the box, as it'd be like saying you've done a loop test without a loop tester....

I think we may have our wires crossed......

The OP is slightly confusing as it is titled "Schedule of itmes INSPECTED"

But.....the description he gives for "barriers or enclosures provided during erection" appears in the list of "schedule of items TESTED"

Now the "barriers or enclosures" heading also appears under the heading of "schedule of items INSPECTED" on an EIC under the sub-heading of "Basic protection" which is what I thought he was referring to hence my answer and to also tick it.

As you correctly state the one under the heading, "schedule of items tested" can only be ticked of you have the appropriate BS finger test equipment.

Incidently the latter doesn't appear on a domestic EIC as it would not be relevant as doesn't site applied insulation, again not relevant.

It's good to talk.;):D
