I feel like a dope for asking but can someone tell me if a 25 amp 4 pole schneider multi 9 contactor is rated at 25 amps per pole or 25 amps in total? Ive been having a look at the schneider characteristics page and still wasnt sure

Yep, per pole but the 25A will be for an AC1 load which is linear (with power factor of 1) you need to de-rate if it's an inductive load like lighting transformers or motor.

That goes for any MCB rating, but how many would have known or been taught that on one of these 17 Day /electrical trainee courses, ...not many i think!! lol!!

I completed a 4 year apprenticeship and ive been time served for 12 years so stop with Electrical Trainee crap. I was sure it was per pole but as i had a small niggling doubt i thought it best to ask a bit of advice rather than fit something i wasn't 100% sure about.
thanks to everyone else for the useful replies

Hey Barney the light bulb, who the hell mentioned or inferred your name in my post?? I was making a general remark/observation on Marvo's post. So pull your neck in!!

Didn't pick much up in that time did you?

4 + 12 = 16 years in the trade and still doesn’t know how to read a specification sheet?
Smacks of a Electrical Trainee to me.

Don’t make excuses for me DW. Instead of grumpy, I’m quite happy at the moment and more than capable of holding my own side of a discussion.
