Yes, noticed this, its a feed for the smoke detector circuit, I stripped that out already
You stripped the cable out, or you stripped the smoke detector out?

It is certainly rough, the earth sleeving will be upgraded, core id's will be rectified, will fix a the connectors, the lid is off at the moment. so yeah with all those issues sorted I think its a passIts rough
The box is not earthed
The cables do have strain relief via the clips
The earth sleevings are iffy
The blue of the old 3 core was not sleeved black (a bit irrelevant nowadays)
The connector blocks are floating
Black live switch wire no id
Black conductor of the new 3 core just lobbed off
Finally ( at least I think so)there is no lid
Other than that,I have seen much worse than whats on display
Above comments aside, nothing wrong with a junction box that is accessible, they can have advantages over loop in at lights and/or switches
I stripped the cable out, as I am fitting Aico 10yr lithium batt detectors, so will do my feed in 1.5 & the rest of the circuit in 3 coreYou stripped the cable out, or you stripped the smoke detector out?
Yeah, I know, I really want to rewire all the lights, but budgets tightapart looking like tin of spaghetti, only one thing missing from that
f88king knife & fork. 100 lines man .on the paper could do better .
See Section D of the EICR model format in Appendix 6 BS7671.It would be highly unlikely an EICR would pick that up imo. Or do you all go check the loft thoroughly?
I can seeSee Section D of the EICR model format in Appendix 6 BS7671
Nah. Handful of Wagos and 20 mins and you can have that spick and span and safe. I quite like octopus wiring, where everything meets at a convenient and accessible point. Poking a load of CPCs in one choc block is no good but a couple of 8-way Wagos will sort it all out nicely.get a strip of block connectors
I find the cable below the box which appears to have cotton covering and red, blue and green conductors more interesting
Ah that answers that then. That's actually Blue / Orange / Green because it's an old phone cable.
Could change it to one of these there are more way units available.if it was me get a some thin MDF place inside the chocolate box.
get a strip of block connectors screw to the MDF and tidy up the cables job done .and don't for get to put a lid on!
Yes one out all outI’d be worried if you are wiring lighting in series connection.
