Should I be surprised?

I am a trainee plus it won't let me post a new thread anywhere but here via tapatalk

We just finished 4 days of testing at a big well known tile and bathroom company, today I was doing the remedial work, downstairs was in 5/6 sections and 2 failed when tested because no earth continuity, they either wrapped the earth back around the grey pvc (no sheathing) or like the picture just didn't connect it, this was on all lights on the sections that didn't work, or like the picture I found 4 lights wired like this....they did work fine though haha.....I'm guessing I'll find this many many many more times in the future?

I just trimmed them back and married them up and secured them in a choc box

17 day wonders. course was too short to get to the purpose of earthing.

I think they thought woohoo It works (and it did like that)., but they don't think beyond that

Chris, you will see much worse than that during your career unfortunately, just make sure you keep putting them right and never cut corner's with your work which i know you won't.

I just put then back how they were but with the cpc in and neutral in the right place

Even with your eyes closed, you can feel which is the CPC on T&E.

As Tel says that is or should be criminal.

The thing that gets me is that doesn't look like a DIY'er, the connections are too neat and the CPC is sleeved. It looks like it was done by someone who should have known better and should have been held accountable.

I'm not sure why you're having problems posting, I've just checked your permissions settings and everything's fine. Maybe it's a tapatalk issue, I'm not sure TBH.

It is illegal Marvo. It breaches our ESQCR regs to join earth and neutral beyond the service head. See sections 8/9 in particular: The Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002 item 4

I found at least 4 wired up with cpc to natural....Not found anymore today though

This was mine minus the choc block related to the first picture, they were too long to fit otherwise so needed shortening

think about how a flat twin is constructed...

in future lets see the CPC being connected on the middle terminal of that block of three connector block shall we..

(especially important when connecting loops for downlights.....eliminate them crossovers)....

Yea, I was pointing out it was a case of stupidity rather than colour, or any other, blindness.

It was the illegality aspect I was highlighting. There's also the reg about not using CPC for other purposes but that's not statute ESQCR is.
