Should I get paid

Hi guys

I've been asked to go on a 17th edition regs course by my employer now obviously this is advantageous to myself. But it's out of my normal working hours. The course is 10 weeks long every Wednesday night for 3 hours. They expect me to work my normal day the go to the course which is 1 1/2 hours drive from work then around 45 minutes home. Should I get paid for my time at the course aka the 3 hours and should I get paid my mileage?? The course is available at nearer locations during the working day. But they are saying well this is the training provider we use. Any advice is appreciated if it was 2 or 3 weeks it wouldn't be as bad but it's a lot of my time and fuel for something that is extremely adventitious to them as well.

I can't believe and I am slightly disappointed at the lack of abuse put my way for my last post.

Sorry...

I failed it! Haha! My excuse is though I had just done a 16 hour shift finishing at 5 am and a took the test at 11 am, was a 50 mile drive to the test centre. I still get abuse for it to this day!

You complete and utter bellend!! Are you a plumber in disguise?

When I did my 17th two guys failed the test. They both hates doing exams and that was their excuse. They thought I had failed as well as I was the only one left behind. I told them that it took 25 mins for the guys to sort my computer out and get the exam sunning, so that is why I hadn't finished.

You are extremely fortunate, then.

More like a p""" taker !!!! :frown2: Sorry Ashley , but which ever way you cut it , if they were going to pay for a course that will ultimately benefit you far more than them and you get to keep the certs for your self in the long run then I think you have been the unreasonable one here .

They all thought i failed 2330 as left first and at least 20mins before the next guy.

Don't have a clue how over half of them failed and i passed

JD,
I have to disagree totally here.

Remember that there is statute law around this area.
This is another case of an employer trying to take the ****, and attempting to get something for less than nothing.
Why should employees have to fund training to ensure that their employer stays legal?
What next, ALL your own tools, own vehicle, own insurances, basically self employed, but on the books, for on the books money?
