Doing a like for like electric shower change, also upgrading 6mm cable from shower to isolation switch to 10mm to match the feed cable from cu to isolator.
Will I need to complete a Minor works or a Electrical Installation Certificate

i wouldnt notify for that as its not an addition and not changing the characteristics of the installation.but still test it and give the customer a mwc for there records

Hmmm yet another grey area.

Personally, i wouldnt, however, circuit arrangements are being altered in a special location, so one could say that it should.

Whoops, didn't read that bit! The joy of browsing on a little phone....

You are allowed to replace a damaged cable in a minor works though, and doesn't need to be notified as long as it follows the same run... But yes, very grey.

I still don't think it warrants it though! :)

Has the existing shower circuit got RCD protection, if it hasnt then you will have to fit it. Check the manufacturers instructions it will state install to blah blah and must be protected by a Residual Current Device. If you have to install RCD then you will need to do EIC and notify the job.

If all you are doing is replacing cable as you say and fitting a new shower then i agree MWC and no notification.

Cheers..........Howard

yup grey, no notification for like for like. prob is a bathroom fitter changes shower to one with a greater pull. whoops. good for us though... call my shower keeps tripping... oh 30396!

I know it as if your on a scheme then you do have to do a minor.
