Hi everyone,

No doubt this has been covered numerous times on here!

I currently have my van sign written, it's not the best and now starting to peel.

Now... Do I remove it and keep it off or do I replace with new?

Never had one job or even enquiry in two years from it. Just seems to attract attention and gives people a number to call and moan about my parking.

What's your guys take on it?

I always thought of it as advertising .......... advertising the fact that the vehicle was stuffed full of goodies for low lifes to nick!!

That's why I always used an anonymous looking car.

well i suppose your craft is the best form of advertising you have....people remember a good job done....
still, wouldn`t harm to get exposure for your business whilst driving though eh?..

That's true it is a form of advertising isn't it and something that is out and about everyday. I have a mate who's a spark and his vans have never been done and he always says he never would, same with a builder I know his haven't ever been done either. The magnetic signs sound a good idea!

Just because people don't ring the number on the van to book a job doesn't mean it's not working. The more people see a company name the more familiar they become and the more likely they are to pick that company when they see the advert somewhere else. It's all about exposure and brand awareness. Yeah sure we can all say it's marketing BS, but look at the successfull businesses and see what you can use for yours.

You can't compete nationally with the likes of British Gas, but you can locally by getting your company details infront of as many people as possible.

Get a decent logo as well

if you sub to many companies, like i did, it could work for you to include thier graphics on your van, but i do think its not worth doing unless its attractive and eye catching, get your van wrapped not written. with some thought and attention it could look the dogs lollipops

magnetic sign, then you can take off at night
Good idea, and underneath have something sign-written like "pest control" or "rabid dog warden" or something similarly unappealing to theiving scrotes.

I've always thought these signs that say "no tools left in the van overnight" suggest completely the opposite. Its like putting "no cash, jewelery, or expensive electronics inside" on a posh house.

You should change the sign wording , try to write some different text which is unique.
This is conform that you are doing this for advertising purpose so you can also use signage instead of sign.

I agree.

I remember a story that was doing the rounds a whil back about the bloke who had one of these signs on the back door of his van.

One morning, he found his van with the back door hanging off and written in felt pen underneath his sign was "JUST CHECKING"

this is a good deterrent:
