When sleeving old colours black for example as s/l do you use red or brown? say when replacing a light switch or do you just not bother.

Personally i can't see a problem using red sleeving if you are changing a fitting with a black being used as a switched line. To me this will save any confusion in the future if all other conductors are pre harmonised.

thank you sintra, it seems from previous replies to this thread that you are the only one that agrees with me on this. red every time if all in "old" colours

Ok I agree but are we changing the colours of the sleeves for our sake or for the diyer? We know which is which regardless of age or sleeve colour of the circuit. I don't believe there is anything in the regs about this but maybe ther should be under good practice? Good question, maybe we should ask the people that wright the brb.

I think all cables should be the same colour (black) with almost impossible to read numbers on them, like in 7 core flex. that'll fox the DIY brigade

Common sense rules again

Sleeve an older colour with new harmonised ? Why, and to achieve what ?

another post in favour of common sense. and while we're on the subject, let's bring back the old 7/029. never known that to snap at a termination
