This time last year our heating/boiler/hot water started making a loud rattling noise. The rattling happened each afternoon about 20 mins after the timer switched on the heating and hot water for the afternoon/evening. The rattle happened 2-3 times over a five minute period for maybe 10-15 seconds a time. The next day it did it again. The day after that it did it again but only once instead of 2-3 times. It never did it in the morning only the afternoon

Until last week (so same time of year almost to the day) it started doing it again. On Saturday and Sunday it was 2-3 times over five minutes, then Monday just once. Again only the afternoon and not the morning. The weather has been much better so maybe that plays a part?

Managed to find where the noise seems to be coming from and it is the airing cupboard and it seems to be when the heating is on but not needed everywhere?

There's definite banging/clanging of pipes for about 10 seconds and then some whooshing for about 2 seconds and then all quiet. It did it about 15 mins after the heating clicked on and then again about 3 mins later

It's all quiet again now. The CH pump is in the airing cupboard so could these sounds be air? We gave bled the rads but would bleeding the pump be a good idea? Is that as straightforward as it looks?
