Priced a job to change old 3ph board from pictures alone. No the firm so jobs good.
Get there and situation is no spd fitted on existing. So I was going to fit one to my new db in trunking at side of board fed of 32a breaker.
Will this act / cover / work for the whole site.
Layout is main switch with 2 outgoing sets of 3ph /n tails to 2 dbs next to each other.

Both boards will be on at all times, as only problem I can see is if db was turned off.
Or am I looking into it too much. Customer wants it right and understands if there is a better way.

Do you have the knowledge and where with all to undertake a job like this?

Yes got the knowledge experience, just wondered what others would do in this situation. Only asking and sorry if I have said something wrong
No Mate you said or done nothing wrong, just wondering if you should be tinkering with this as your profile is a bit thin on the info.

Edit already posted something similar

I could go to any job almost 99.9999% sure there won’t be a SPD fitted. Why do you think your replacement DB needs a SPD? Have you done a risk assessment?

Only risk assesment/ check I've used is schnider or wylex, which in my understanding if can lead to disturbance in commercial industrial then one needs fitting. Domestic I thought if value of electrical goods is 4x cost of spd as a rule fit one. Think that was beema.

What I wanted to no was if one in a db will do / cover both dbs instead of messing about splitting main tails etc.

If you take the time to look in the OSG Page41 Table 3.7.3 figure 3.7.2.2, it tells you all about the three types of SPD and how to choose which type.
In fact read all of Section 3 page 31 in the sections entirety, this should give you an insight into Protection.
