I came across a job today where the speakers are connected using 1mm twin and earth, not being very well versed in this area can you guys list the pros and cons of this "if any".

Should I change this or not? It should bo ok right? I have not seen it working so I don't want any comeback because if the quality is poor when the electric is restored the customer is bound to complain that it used to be better.

Thanks..............

You guys gotta get with the beat.

A 2.5metre length of Kimber Select KS-6068
will only set you back. ÂŁ19,646!

If you want a jaw-dropping interlude, have a browse through Russ Andrews catalogue. he'll let you have a 2-socket extension lead for ÂŁ165, it does have spike suppression though.......time to make your Xmas list??

Don't knock it - they sell a lot of expensive to stuff to a lot of gullible people!
If you want extreme silliness look on Google for Peter Belt (PWB) - He'll have you sticking silver dots to your door frames! Kidding? - Have a look! Daz

I always assumed the gold plating was for, effectively corrosion resistance - as opposed to a significant change in sound quality/clarity? Also without trying this myself is there really any noticeable difference with larger cables, as long as they can carry the current through to the speakers then why bother. If it does then bring out the tails....

I know people who swear by expensive cables, both speaker and mains leads. I can't tell the difference personally, but I've not got particularly sensistive hearing. The only way to beb sure for yourself is do a blind A/B test, maybe at a hi-fi dealers - repeat it a few times and see if you can get consistent results, then there's your answer.
Just be careful, cos some of them will try and sell you ÂŁ200 mains leads and ÂŁ100 13A plugs aswell. The only way to go after that is have your ring main, supply cables, pylons and substations upgraded and gold plated eh! Call me cynical but... Daz

I bet the people with expensive set-ups would never let you hear it and voluntarily say - 'wow thats amazing sound, how do you do it?' they would probably be more inclined to show you their massive cable and brag about it 'till the cows come home.
