Dimmers are designed for resistive loads, your motor is an inductive load.I have an old vacuum motor that is 110V, 8A
It is way too fast. I need to slow down the rpm's.
Can I use a regular ceiling fan/light dimmer switch to do this?
thanks

Depending on the wattage of your motor, something along these lines would do.I have an old vacuum motor that is 110V, 8A

I would suggest you forget this, never heard anything like it either, if the "old" motor isn't up to scratch then buy one that isI have an old vacuum motor that is 110V, 8A
