I got caught doing 34 in a 30 zone in Abergele................. :6: thought I'd got away with it....................

For a fact its 10% plus 10mph, so a fixed camera in a 30 zone will go off at 43mph, its the same if you get pulled over by a camera car, up to 42mph is down to copper discretion so don't be a cock, over 42mph its automatic 3 points and a fine. Mobile camera vans are a different story.
Dont know where you source your 'Fact' information from but unless its a local set-up to you it isnt true, if you exceed a 30mph by more than 15mph its a court referal and points and fine are subject to the the court rulings usually 6 points for such a speed but not always, i have 4 speed cams on my road and often end up in conversations regarding the trigger speed the locals i know have been nabbed at by fixed cams, 36 upwards tend to be the norm although it has been as low as 34 for 1 unlucky person.
Traffic cops tend to give allowances up to 85 on the motorway but will come down harder when caught above this but its usually down to the individual case and traffic cops descretion like tail-gating aggressive driving traits etc will all make you stick out like a sore thumb against other speeders, this refers to dashboard cams, mobile speed vans will prosecute 100% of speeders above the tolerance speed for that road, tolerances are set according to road and surroundings if it near a school the tolerences will be lower as it less likely they can successfully appeal
