Not had to do this before....

But is this within regulation.... spur'ing off ring to feed spur for heater, then would like to spur off this to another spur for a light ?

Thanks,

Sy

One socket one spur unless its fused so if you fuse the first spure or socket from the point of connection to the ring you can add more than one point

They would be fused separately (probably 13A for heater, 3A for light) so no problem with that at all.
The 'one spur per socket' rule is mainly for sockets.

would there not need to be 1 fcu at the origin of this spur off the ring? Otherwise more lights could be added on the 3amp fuse changed and then next thing its a spur using 23 amps

i agree hawk as i have said fused spur at the origin then the circuit cant be overloaded if you add fused spures you are not protecting the supply cable , and then theres an overload possibility

Not going to be so easy to spur at point it leaves ring, but if it is regulation then no alternative option and that is the way it will be done. The first spur for heater will be FCU and second spur off this will FCU also supplying light..

Many thanks Sy

The additional wiring you are installing must be fused at the socket if you intend to add numerous spurs. The initial 13A fuse will protect the wiring.

then if the heater is turned off the light will be off too

Ideally yes, depending on the likelihood of more lights being added.
The initial 13A fuse could be situated next to the FCU for the heater (or elsewhere along the supply cable) provided it is wired in the same csa cable as the ring.

Spur at the socket looks like the correct way to go about it then....

Sorry your right, will just re-write that a bit better, FCU at point it leaves ring supplying FCU for heater and off feed side of this FCU feed another FCU to supply light...

Water heater?

I could only find" Heater" in the thread, mind you, I whipped through the posts and my eyesight aint what it used to be :)
