well the kids have surprised me over the years with some of the things they have asked for but this one has really topped it :D

Your kids sound like they're on their way to following their old man as a trades person. An important present for anyone getting into the business.
:p

pg or tetlys taste the same when its laced with arsenic :D

What?

Buy them the kettle too. If they're going to learn, give them the monkey AFTER they make a decent cuppa......not before.

Jeez, training sure isn't what it used to be!

LOL!

:D i suppose its cheaper than most 15 year olds no doubt asking for ipads etc :)

Try most six year olds.................

"Everyone else is getting one" ..... apparently. Just like they all seem to be getting new TVS, DVD players, iPods, shoes, make up, Wiis, and everything else advertised on the tv.

I've told them it's a Satsuma, lump of coal, and a shilling, and lump it.

I've also told them to learn what recession and economic shrinkage means. No, hang on, that was their mother, who seems to think that credit cards mean you can spend whatever the income level......

Average spend - two older ones - ÂŁ400 each (6 and 5). Little un (almost 2) ÂŁ250. Mother....not enough yet, apparently.

i wonder each year what amount is a right amount to spend. i still don`t really know tbh. the good thing about both of them is they are really grateful for whatever they get :)

It's hard mate.

I've never set a limit, as such - and although it's technically madam's responsibility to do the Christmas shopping, I tend to buy them all something on my way round, and provide the funds anyway.

Any budget we've ever tried to set never gets kept to anyway.

And all that said - I am sure, despite all my bitching, that we could literally get away with next to nothing and they'd be equally grateful - it's totally what makes Christmas to me, the look on their faces.

Its also one of the things that I hate about being an adult - that we get so damn jaded over the little "magical" things that kids can (still) take for granted. I'd hope that my children have magic in their lives as long as I can possibly make it happen for them.

top guy and you know what mate. your not just making a christmas for them, your making a lifetime of happy memories :) and that`s priceless mate.

That's the plan - just wish they didn't have to grow up so quick!

Wouldn't have any of 'em any other way, and to be honest, they're a pretty good reason for getting out of bed each day and doing what I do :)

Well, thinking it's probably kip o'clock now, for four hours, until it's time to get up and go squeeze in some of the pre-Christmas rush....before getting back to another round of never ending paperwork.

Make the most of it mate mine are now 30 27 and 18 and it goes so quickly. If it's possible for you guys to do then Lapland is the place where magic and memories are made. I took the youngest there in 98 when she was 7 and she still talks about it now

The PG tips monkey is cool as.

Those adverts were funny as hell.

I agree about the christmas & kids thing though, enjoy it with them while you/they can as it doesn't last long.
