Make the most of it mate mine are now 30 27 and 18 and it goes so quickly. If it's possible for you guys to do then Lapland is the place where magic and memories are made. I took the youngest there in 98 when she was 7 and she still talks about it now

I took my first three to Lapland in 99 - was an amazing experience. Will do the same with these three in the next couple of years, so the youngest can get something out of it. It seems, comparatively cheaper now too than it was ten years ago.

My elder three still talk about it too - they're 19, 16, and 12 - so you can imagine that Christmas for them is all money and clothes!

All good though!

As I've said before I'm working as a taxi driver in Leeds (not for much longer hopefully) and that I do a school run with 7 autistic children and Friday was their last day for the 2 weeks Xmas break. They all got me a little pressie, find out next week what soap or socks I get. So I had to go out and return their kindness. Asda and + ÂŁ60 = a lot of chocolate. When I got home and wrapped them all I had a bit of time left so I got out some old Xmas decorations and made my cab look like a bomb had just gone off in a tinsel factory, they loved it. Never seen them soooooo happy and full of that childish joy that we all had. It was a great feeling and something that I will do again. I've been a grump the past 5/6 years (my mother passed away at Xmas) but this has kicked me up the **** to get on with enjoying myself and passing on the joy off Xmas. All that been said I've just finished a 22 hour shift in black Friday and I didn't feel in any way that the people I picked up all night knew what Xmas was all about. Maybe we should all go to lap land and re-educate ourselves so we can pass on the joy.

Well done you, mate - it's so nice to hear when someone goes out of their way a little, just to make someone else's day - and the difference you must have made to those kids, who have a hard enough time of life anyway, just amazing.

Tell you what too - it's the little things that make all the difference - a smile here, or a silly little gesture like holding a door open there, or even just saying hello to someone - or thank you. One gesture at a time and it starts gaining a foot hold again!

And I'd lay odds that your mum wouldn't have wanted you miserable all that time either - life is for living and all that - and I came to a conclusion years ago that if I couldn't find something to make me smile, or feel happy in a day, then I wasn't doing it right. Silly thing, and your story just bears that out is that sometimes giving is what makes us happier than getting.

So many of us seem to have lost the notion of community, and fellow support - we're all way too selfish these days in a personal sense I think. I take my hat off to you friend - a lovely gesture, and those kids will remember it forever!
