OMG so you are encouraging self DIYers as well.
No, I am trying to promote the electrical trade as customer-friendly; you're trying to make that difficult.
No pictures supplied, how are you doing it?
Doing what? Pictures have been requested, there is no harm in doing so politely.
How can you give advice regarding something you haven't seen?
Where did I do that? By the same token how can you jump to the conclusion that someone is out of their depth when they're describing something they're unsure of?[/QUOTE]
Do you work for B&Q in their DIY department?
No, what an odd question.
This is an electrical discussion forum, not some kind of electrical superiority 'shoot n00bs down in flames' forum; there are plenty of those around without this being turned into one.
Given the choice I would use alternatives to estate agents, recruitment consultants, solicitors, mechanics, traffic wardens, train drivers, chefs and post offices, because they are notoriously difficult professions to deal with. There is no reason someone can't glean enough information from the internet, readers digest guides etc to DIY all their own electrical work, however I would prefer someone to pay me for my services because they feel I am easy enough to deal with.
You seem to have this idea that you are indispensable and that nobody has a choice other than to pay you mega money for you to talk down to them and throw your weight around. Remember those coal miners who thought the same in the 80s? It would serve you right to wake up one morning and find your services are no longer required, however I don't want you dragging me down with you because you're so blinkered and arrogant to foresee the consequences of your actions.
