Strange connections??

:santa1:Hi i`m in need of a little help from an expert or few lol ,my mum has just bought a house which she intends to rent after any work that is to be done is finished when i went with her today to help make a list i was looking at the general apperance of the electrics which dont look too bad although we will be having them tested by an expert,knowing that some will change old fittings to make all appear well when realy it all needs doing i looked inside the cu this was when i became a little puzeld as the neutral wires of all the ring mains/cooker/shower were connected to the main earth block .I know this is not as it should be but everything seemed to work ok shower/fridge but turned of isolator on incoming supply but cant see why it would be like this ,hope it`s not hiding ££££ fault

You didn't by any chance take a picture did you.....??

Sounds a bit strange to say the least, if the neutrals were connected to the 'earth block', where were the earths connected???

Are you sure your not confusing the 2nd Neutral bar with an earth bar. all modern CU's have 2 neutral bars (RCD protected circuits)

the earths are in the bar as well as the neutrals as its got spce for 6 more breakers ,and it only has 1 bar for earth one for neutral ,

exept it is acting more like a sort of TNC isn`t it....as its the final circuits that have the neutral and CPCs linked at the board.......wonder whats been going on behind the accessories here n all......

Best advice in this case is to recommend calling in an electrician and not to encourage a DIY type answer which would compromise health and safety.
