I've always used a locking stanley knife. The secret is to always have a sharp blade....:wink5:

I know its a fairly old thread, but I have one from C.K - they call it a kabifix for some odd reason. You just press it down, wind it round the cable once then pull it down the cable and hey presto - cable stripped. I find it to be really good and you can adjust it for different thicknesses.

I'm getting on very well with the Jokari. Seems just right for my little operations.

a half decent stanley knife with a sharpe blade been using mine for years, works fine for me, and is cheaper than any fancy tool. Bet its quicker too and it deals with all sizes and i dont need an instruction manual either

No way is that quicker than a Jokari, but each to his own thing I suppose.

i agree the jokari is good tool, i have one but this machine is heavy duty for large tails and scrap ,

Re: Stripping the outer black sheath off cable - is there an ideal tool for this anyw

It's not perfect, of course, but then, what is? I find that if you cock it up, the Jokari makes a mess of removing the outer sheath, but if you work confidently it does a quick job. It's about knack. I'd never go back to using a Stanley knife.
