I didn't go to this job......Shame!!
Turns out plumber had removed the immersion, cabling and trunking to consumer unit. Left a nice hole in the side.

The guy thought that cables were sticking out a bit so shoved them back using a biro.
No one knows quite what happened next but he seems to have shorted the downstairs lighting, which took out the MCB and RCD and blew the end off the pen and also damaged some cables.

No one hurt just shaken!

Made me chuckle when the job came in lolol

was at work today and seen cable hanging , no copper showing as was clean snip, i said to dude are they live and if so should be in connectors, he said dont know, well i grabbed the line and touched back box and flash bang . so i did my sums and 480A..

would this flow through me, i think no as rubber soles and wooden floor, so im asking what is worse case that could of happened... i just want to argue my point about not blocking them up

is that your ideas of checking to see if a cable is live or not then?

Not good mate is it?

being in contact with an earth path with one hand......and an energised cable end with the other hand.....shock straight across the chest.....the worst kind of shock you can recieve.....

SO GLENNSPARK

have you checked to make sure you're not actually in the afterlife, and this is a forum for inbetweeners, so to speak? Seen Bruce Willis walking around, or Elvis!

Mackers I heard this was the case nearly 30 year ago an ex RAF chap told me about the power of 3ph, said he was at end of corridor working on a panel at top of steps, next thing he knew was 15 feet away on the floor rubbing back of neck looking for the bloke that had threw a book at him

we were in a place about 2 weeks ago where the parents were dealing in front of their kids.....wouldn`t be the first time either......
My all time favourite was on a rewire, cars on the drive included A Porsche 911 a Porsche 4x4 (I forget the name of those bloody ugly things) and a Subaru Imprezza. All the latest electronic kit in a nice place (by council standards)
When asked, the man of the house replied "I've never worked for f...... years mate it's a mugs game"
He did get an awful lot of visitors but none stayed very long, I often wonder how he earned his living:)
