Seriously!!

"Customer put PEN in consumer unit it exploded now customer has no power"

View attachment 11340

I didn't go to this job......Shame!!
Turns out plumber had removed the immersion, cabling and trunking to consumer unit. Left a nice hole in the side.

The guy thought that cables were sticking out a bit so shoved them back using a biro.
No one knows quite what happened next but he seems to have shorted the downstairs lighting, which took out the MCB and RCD and blew the end off the pen and also damaged some cables.

No one hurt just shaken!

Made me chuckle when the job came in lolol

oh yes....we see it on an almost daily basis...scruffy unkempt kids....gassed up parents....electrical installation tampered with...evidence of power pinchin.....we were in a place about 2 weeks ago where the parents were dealing in front of their kids.....wouldn`t be the first time either......
Where I used to live there was a junkie 2 doors up the road anyway she came down one night as her electric had gone off, amazing how they find out your,e a spark, anyway went up and a piece of 2.5 had come adrift from the meter, apparently inserted by hubby before he got sent down for burglary.Ah I said I see your problem, you appear to be showing a debt of over ÂŁ50 pounds on meter you need some credit. What about the loose wire?she asked oh I,ll pretend I didnt see that as I dont think my bosses at the board would be too happy if they knew! I didn,t work for the board but she never called again.

I used to work with a lad who had a registered alcoholic as a neighbour, this alcy's wife used to leave him a few quid each day so he could nip to the shop for some cider. If she forgot he used to sell things round the doors, anyway one day she came home to find no hall stairs and landing carpet.
Made me chuckle

As an aside, do you know that if you're a dole wallah registered alcy you get more money than a normal dole wallah

being in contact with an earth path with one hand......and an energised cable end with the other hand.....shock straight across the chest.....the worst kind of shock you can recieve.....

Good point that. When I was a lad I was told if you are going to work live always keep one hand in your pocket to stop shocks accross the chest. I bet they dont teach that at college now.

well...firstly i always do a safe isolation first...before undertaking any work on a circuit.....lock off MCB....or fuse in pocket....its a matter of principle....but another thing n all.......i never handle 2 conductors at the same time......even after i have done a safe isolation.....and no....they havn`t taught us that at college.......
