Discuss Submersible Pump... in the Electrician Talk | All Countries area at ElectriciansForums.net

before i got there it was a joke. i am trying to improve the whole site, but its big and because i have other responsibilities there, i cannot devote much time to it. not enough hours in the day!

Hi All,

Hope you can help, I'm new to this sector and thought if any one would offer help and guidance to this question it would be the people on here?!

I've recently moved into a sector of wiring that i'm unfamilar with, it classed as commercial installs, and it involves wiring up new control panels in kiosk and inside commercial premises.. The work is for the lovely world of drainage, so pump pits etc.. My question is what is the best way to approach the install, do i calculate the size of swa on the size of submersible pump thats being installed?? i don't have much experience in the electrical industry, i've done my 2330 l2 and l3, 177th edition and 2392, but because of it being a specialist area,it's thrown me slightky, so i thought you guys could help on this question??

Kinds Regards

Scope02

If you have no experience in this field you should get a specification from someone who does. It will work out cheaper in the long run for everyone concerned including yourself.

In answer to your question, first spec the pump, this will determine the cable size which in turn will determine the breaker size and the supply size.

177th edition? You're a GOD! Or a time traveller!

Seriously start a new thread because this one is stagnant (excuse the pun). You have a new subject and will get more people looking in if you do.

I've slept some but not that long that I missed 160 editions of the regs.

What do they say no electrician is allowed to do any electrical work at all but it can be done by any Tom, Dick or Harry but not an electrician?

Ha ha, yeah it was a typo, cheers for your input, everyone has got to started somewhere and do it the correct way. thanks to those of you resonded.

Hi Scope: Just out of interest, what sort of Electrical work have you been involved in up to now ? Yes we know that everyone has to start somewhere mate, but Drainage / Sewage pumping Stations / Pits are not normally the best place to jump in at the deep end.
