Come on how goes it?

I’ve always done heavy industrial work (quarrying & steel) but I’ve been following this thread out of interest, so totally different to what I’m used to.

Having lived in a small farming community I know what they’re like, I’d get asked to do the odd “foreigner”. Usually I’d manage to wriggle out of doing them, but I got roped in a few times. My usual ploy would be give them a list of items required and the numbers of the wholesalers and leave them to haggle over the price. My fee was on top!

Good job your in Durham otherwise I would get upset, you wouldn’t know about the hamlet of Pikehall in Derbyshire.

This is totally off subject, if ever you are in the Chapel-en-le-Frith area of north Derbyshire, have a look for “The Wanted Inn” at Sparrowpit. When I first started drinking in there it was spit & sawdust, farmers in sh*t covered wellies. Carl, my son, took clients there for a meal yesterday, when I met them later they couldn’t stop talking about the food. Pikehall is about 1½ mile away.
PS the “Wanted” got it’s name from the fact it was up for sale for 6 years!
