Hi, was up in a loft briefly today and noticed a novel way of continuing a supp bond....none of this unbroken conductor looped in-and-out malarkey but instead 3 x 4mm G&Y's individually crimped and then bolted together....even had a Safety Elec Connection tag on it! Was not sure whether to be impressed or dismayed TBH.

The connections were solid and got great cont. readings between bonded pipes etc..

Does this type of connection method break any regs is my query??

Piccy below, Thanks

Novel!

I think it is a mechanically sound, reliable electrical connection, accessible for maintenance. I do not think supplementary bonding is mentioned as must be continuous in any recommendation.
I would say that the cables are not correctly supported that could put strain on the connection, if I was being picky!
Also since there do not appear to be any other extraneous conductive parts around a risk has been introduced into that area.
Bit of visible copper on one of those crimps!
Can you tell I am struggling for faults:)

I'm a bit worried at the OP's handle............TheGayOwl !!!

Nowt wrong with that but look at the photo again...............wigs not too bad? but a lump of concrete and a roofing bolt with 10mm green and yellow stuffed into it as an ear-ring is a bit dodgy IMO if your taking your mam to the club for the housey:ack2:

Thanks for the replies.

When I saw it my initial thought was that it was ok..... All the 4mm seemed to be doubled over before being crimped....good n strong....agree should be anchored/supported.

I am relatively new to sparking, so always good to hear others opinions.

Allan, apparently 40% of barns are such, hence their decline in numbers..........

Thanks again..

It be a Teat it be....!!

Not really at all mate..! The moniker is from a drunk pub quiz question I made up years ago and it has kinda stuck over the years..

I have a chemistry based owl joke........

What do thirsty owls like to drink........

2h2o........say it out loud like twit twoo for the joke to make any sense....Ok its not funny I know.....

2h2o is the chemical formula for heavy water....

RIGHT, I'll get me coat!
