Hi I need to terminate 2.5mm 3 core SWA cable on the outside wall then connect through wall to a 13 amp socket connected to the house ring main. What sort of junction box to use on the outside wall? The other end of the SWA is in a garden shed, what sort of junction box should be used here? IP66 or 67? Need to be metal for ease of termination of SWA?.

Thanks for any info.

Mike.

Thanks all, which is the best way to get power through the wall - use SWA tails or 2.5 twin and earth via a TB in the junction box?

Mike.

I'd pass the tails through the wall, saves an unnecessary joint then.

if you're going straight into the back of the socket.

Or, ....You could mount an IP 66/7 socket outlet in place of the Wiska type JB. You will then have added provision for any electrical power garden tools thrown in!! ...lol!! Which is what i did on one of my external supplies in Cyprus. In Cyprus, a double costs around 10 / 11 Euros plus VAT!!

Good point, but not sure about fitting SWA to a plug. The conduit method - can you get 'plastic' conduit smaller than 20mm dia - there is an existing hole 12mm dia through the wall so it would be convenient to use. To drill out would mean removing the wall socket and box.
