How deep should an SWA cable be buried in the ground to officially comply with regs?

522.8.10 page 101 does not give a depth just states sufficient depth to avoid being damaged by any reasonably forseeable disturbance to the ground.

This is the correct answer. Pg 269 Note 1 relates to depth for the values in the tables for soil resistivity.

Only depth I can find is in 705.522, pg 185 maybe this contradicts the above. This is for farms etc. thought cables were always deeper on farms.

Or will this be ammended in the next issue?

I'm sure its 500mm but if under a vegetable patch area 600mm.

And I'm pretty sure its in the OSG I'll have a look now.

if i ever have to run a burried cable i go 600mm to top of cable. Possibly picked up from 15th or 16th edition and just stuck.

Or... if you are running it to your garage it might be that you choose not to bury it at all

tree roots radiate out as far as the tree is high from all sides. Te he. Centenary wire if you got lots of trees, or a broken back and blunt spade.

There is a line somewhere in one of our many publications that states " ideally should not be less than 600mm"

I think it's GN1.
