Hi,

im designing an installation and pricing for a large property, i plan to feed sub mains using swa. Maybe a silly question, can i gland the swa in a stud wall and bring the cores through the plaster to the consumer units? customer wants to see no cables and id much rather use swa than twin for sub mains. Was planning to run another cpc along side the swa on the very rare chance the swa gland isnt as tight as was when first installed

thanks!

First option would be: Fit a flush metal consumer unit within the stud wall and terminate the SWA cable directly into the con/unit.
Be even neater for your consumer. If single phase, use 3 core, one core for earth as well as the armour.
Second option would be: Fix a metal adaptable box within the stud wall ( like you would do skt box) and fit the con/unit directly in front of it. Hope that helps. What do others think?

My point exactly,
His response was "if I'm spending over £5k on a cupboard fit out I don't want it ruined". The only alternative is twin but for some reason I don't running twin as sub mains cable just feels a bit amateurish if I dare say it!

You would treat it as a TT installation.
