swearing lately

Has the rule about swearing changed on the forum?? I have noticed a lot of swearing recently. Ok maybe one or 2 letters * but it does not take a genius to work out what is trying to be spelt out.

I agree with just about everything said on this thread - the analogy I always use is that you wouldn't go into the post office and ask the old dear behind the counter for "a book of effing stamps" so why use that kind of language anywhere else?
At the same time it can be appropriate to swear in the right place at the right time - my very much middle class Oxford educated mother who works as a historical re-enactment teacher in the county museum under the professional pseudonym of 'Miss Proper' would ordinarily have given me a right dressing down for swearing, but I remember I once found something incredibly annoying and uttered "Oh FFS [elongated version]" under my breath which she found highly amusing.

To me, the neanderthals on site who feel they have to crowbar in the F word several times in a sentence come across as being a bit, well, thick. Also it takes them twice as long to say anything.

I'd hope that if I reported a post with swearing on it the offending word would just be starred out or substituted for something comical, rather than being removed completely.
