Discuss Swimming pool regulations in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

I installed an in-ground swimming pool in my garden in 1985 and now I am thinking of selling the property and moving to somewhere smaller. It occurred to me that the buyer of my property will employ a surveyor who
will ensure the pool electrics conform to regulations. I can see that section 702 refers to zones 0,1 and 2 but all my equipment is housed in a brick building near the pool which would wholly be in zone 1. The equipment is all specifically designed for swimming pools and bought from a specialist swimming pool company. All the sockets are 30mA rcd and there is also a gas boiler. Can someone please tell me if I am in compliance with the regulations? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Worst thing comes to the worst, blank the sockets off, what do you use them for anyway??

I have a pool in Cyprus, and have deck area lighting and a RCD protected socket within what they call zone 1. Can't think of a single thing i've had plugged in that had anything to do with the pool. So if this is an indoor pool, what are you using these socket outlets for? Are they actually needed??

Could I suggest that either some comprehensive pictures are put up to support this post or alternatively you employ the services of a local spark whom would have the benefit of seeing the said install. With all the knowledge that exists on the forum, we are unable to give a clear informed decision. you clearly have some reference material/knowledge relating to the install and the appropriate regs, so I'd recommend a one to one with a local spark(not one from the pub!).
He/she may be aware of something that you perhaps have overlooked.

here's one that he pm'd me.........................

All the pool equipment is plugged into RCD's using 3 pin plugs. But I also have a gas boiler within zone 1. The pool itself is outdoors but the equipment itself is housed.

As said , pictures would help. Is this a plant room you are talking about?

Easiest thing is to get some advice from a good spark that can see it, we can guess all day.

Well if it's all housed, what's the problem??? There is a physical barrier (that i take it can be locked) between the equipment room and the pool area so no problem!! The only electrical power that's actually within Zone 1 will be the underwater pool lighting, that will be 12 V and supplied via an isolation TX. Sounds fine to me!! lol!!

Are you aware according to guidance note 3 this installation should have been inspected every year, In accordance with interval of inspections.

If you had adhered to this all current legislation should be up to date !

I recommend you have this and the entire property fully inspected prior to sale to ensure the entire property is up to current legislation
