I installed an in-ground swimming pool in my garden in 1985 and now I am thinking of selling the property and moving to somewhere smaller. It occurred to me that the buyer of my property will employ a surveyor who
will ensure the pool electrics conform to regulations. I can see that section 702 refers to zones 0,1 and 2 but all my equipment is housed in a brick building near the pool which would wholly be in zone 1. The equipment is all specifically designed for swimming pools and bought from a specialist swimming pool company. All the sockets are 30mA rcd and there is also a gas boiler. Can someone please tell me if I am in compliance with the regulations? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If the equipment is housed in a brick building near the pool, so the pool is in another building, then the brick building the equipment is in, is not classed as a special location.

Apologise if I have missed something, I've not read the full thread.
 
This afternoon I paid a visit to the pool centre which installed the equipment and they told me I had nothing to worry about since everything is in a locked building. They said the reasoning behind the zones is simply to prevent someone in the pool reaching out and touching equipment. Phew! I'm afraid I'm a worrier so thanks for all your help in this matter. Now I had better get back to those lovely girls. :D
 
well,don't forget the pool regulations:

1. no running in the pool area.

2. no bombing into the pool.

3. no piddling in the pool.

4. no swimming under water and pulling bikini bottoms off the crumpert.

If the pool looks like this then at I guess is say there was nothing too worry about, secondly if the pool looks like this then I wouldn't move.
 
Are you aware according to guidance note 3 this installation should have been inspected every year, In accordance with interval of inspections.

If you had adhered to this all current legislation should be up to date !

I recommend you have this and the entire property fully inspected prior to sale to ensure the entire property is up to current legislation

Sounds like your trying to drum up buisiness!!
 
Funny enough leisure centres, Holiday Parks, Holiday Resorts have their Swimming Pool installations tested every year so that's no bad business to be in;)

But the OP's is a private pool , just a big bathroom really lol. Public places will require more stringent consideration owing to the differences in clientele etc.

When you think about it, what is involved electrically with a swimming pool installation?? Basically very little, it's just a pump and maybe a couple of underwater 12V lights!! Maybe, if you have far more money than commonsense you'll have electric powered water heaters, but most sane people opt for gas or oil boilers!!

I think that annual testing of these public pools, is more to do with system testing (eg, water conditioning, chemical levels, etc) rather than electrical testing....

We inspect a lot Swimming Pool installations, all carried out as per GN3 on an annual basis tho they are large 'Splash World' type places rather than domestic.
