I'm currently in the process of a house refurb and next on my to-do list is light switches and wall sockets.

I've narrowed it down to two brands which are MK & Crabtree and Screwfix stock both at reasonable prices.

Which brand shall I go for?

On the subject of Schneider Electrics....

We've recently had a Schneider Electrics Easy 9 consumable unit installed to replace an old fuse box.

What's your opinions on the Easy 9?

Good quality but I had to fit two RCBOs to a Merlin Gerin board so bought two Easy 9s and they only fitted in upside down. I asked about this in the wholesaler and they said 'yep, that's right'.

I like the LAP range from Screwfix as they do the soft edge sockets and switches. They're really ok.

Don't think you're asking the right people, somehow.:juggle2:

I have seen the price difference yes, but I never said anything about it being rough, if you have enquired about it with the manufacturer and they ok'd it then no worries

I was only having a laugh Dave, (as I galloped away), they function well enough. just look a bit funny when everything else is pointing up and these are pointing down!

Hager for me.
The price is better than mk and i would say the quality is too. Also like the neutral terminal on there light switches for loop in/out at the switch.
Prices at Electricbase are good at the moment if you have one near you?

Everyone knows it's against the regs and completely illegal, not to mention irresponsible and morally reprehensible to wire neutrals to switches.

Shame on you!

beggars belief that you'd install them like that. so next man along sees the breaker switch in the down position and assumes it's OFF.

Nah, it's got written 'on' in tipex on the front with a little arrow pointing down. Anybody coming in should follow safe isolation procedures as making an assumption is only making an...well you know the saying..

anyway my horse needs feeding...
