Switching non timer extraction fan

Hi,

Can't seem to find anything in the regs but I have been asked to fit an extractor fan in a small cupboard containing some IT equipment which gets quite warm and it's just to dissipate heat out of the cupboard. My question is, as it's a fan without run on timer I am using T&E to power it and just wondering of its ok to use a standard 10 amp one way switch to isolate. Just wondering if I need to wire it so to isolate both line and neutral or whether it's ok to just isolate the line conductor as I don't seem to be able to source a double pole switch under 20 amps.

Just use a S FCU with a 3A fuse in it!

That's what I will do but also into a thermostat to control it so it's not on permanently.

I hope the customer isn't going to expect you to fit a £15.00 fan from a shed - I doubt it would last very long being switched on all the time!

What other sort of fan would you recommend.

Something that's rated and recommended by the manufacturer for constant running. The one you have been provided is listed as a domestic intermittent extract fan.

I would look at the oem websites too see what they recommend!

It will be wired from the lighting circuit and she wants it to run 24/7 unless she decides to switch off. Still waiting for supplier to get fan so don't know yet if manufacturers state fusing or not. Will have to make that decision at the time. Don't suppose I could use a 20 amp switch fuse with 3 amp fuse to cover all bases.

Click (and CEF do their own make) do a 3 pole isolator with fuse you can use. Just don't use the S/L if not required.

Yes, looking at thermostat with changeover contacts now. Will be putting it on SFCU for isolation but just need to look at a different fan.

Look at Xpelair, and fans of that ilk. Then you can sleep easy lol.

Ok so just to get things in perspective now. Power coming from light circuit to SFCU to thermostat with changeover contacts to fan. Does this sound about right.
