Synchronisation now complete!

You may remember a post a while back about how our total load up the hospital was getting uncomfortably close to its limit whilst running on generator. Well, after a long 6 months we've finally syncronised Geni 1 and Geni 2. We are now capable of running a load of 2.5MegaWatt. Hallelujah! But, in doing so, have discovered that theres actually a crash point in one of our substations where if one of our switches is closed (on generator test), mains and generator can actually meet. Bad news for the generators. Just gets better lol .. Next stop... Castell key installation! :6:

Are you saying that the changeover from mains to stand-by generators is a manual operation?? For a hospital set-up that for me, would be totally unacceptable. I've never come across a manual changeover, with or without load shedding on a hospital installation, they have all been fully automatic and for very good reason.

It's still early in the morning here and i'm still on my first cup of coffee, but i'm scratching my head as to how a bypass switch comes before your main substation incomer(s)?? What is this by-pass switch switching between??

I think he might be getting confused.

they probably have a switch to power essential off the non essential supply etc.

Come on, synchronising is easy isn't it?

Join the star points, connect a couple of lamps between the lives, fettle the governor a bit so the flashing slows down and then throw the switch when the lights go off.

What could possibly go wrong? (apart from one or both generators tearing themselves to pieces that is)
