As title. I will start off with yesterday's daft booboo. Lighting fuse out, in pocket. stripped switch, PIR, and outside light prior to fitting new light.. croc clipped L/N of one cable to bell out as there were 2 cables in fitting, 2 in switch, 2 in PIR. identified cables. temp. different colour tape on ends of each. back to CU and replaced fuse with croc clip still across L/N. OOPS. and no spare 1361 for miles.

Daftest mistake of all, after deciding to run my own business?

Getting up at all this week. It's been one of those!

I thought the crap was supposed to come in three's - not this week! More like three at a time.......

Ah well, weekend, pub, oblivion, Monday.

My last "new thread" - written in haste, with incomplete/inaccurate information which got one or two contributors hot under the collar - if only there was a way to delete a daft entry!

One of mine was to leave a squad manoeuvring a sizeable wire armour alone for a minute in a switch room of a large chain store. Went to see the store manager and was talking over some issues with him when all went dark!

The squad had let the cable slide down the front of the main panel and the weight of the cable had thrown the switch!

Advantage to him in our discussions as I was trying to negotiate some favours from him! Talk about red face.

Many years ago I was charge hand on a build of a block of flats. Well it was the half day before the Christmas break, so when we finished we all went to the next door pub for a couple of shandy’s (or something similar) been in there for about 3 hours when a tenant came in and said that the corridor lights were not working and it was to dangerous to be left like that for 2 weeks, I said no problem love will nip round and sort it out. So me and one of the apprentices nipped; round and right enough no lights. Out came the ladders, tools and tester, I spent around ½ hour testing when the apprentice asked if I had tried the switch. I said no…. go and try it, he did and on came the lights.

Just goes to show don’t drink and work, anyway would not get away with it now.

pitched a ladder on a painted floor......................did the old alarm man in the claims direct advert..............ladder slipped away, i did the big scream, walked away winded and red faced!

mega careful these days!

I once carried out a test and inspection at an establishment that can not be named, and forgot to plug a fridge back in. The fridge contained an experimental compound which had to remain refrigerated at all times. Two days later the building that housed the test lab was wiped out. Luckily it was seven O’clock at night and everyone had left the building. Not my finest moment!

Trying to get upstairs lights in a house to work and couldn't find where the power for them was coming from. Ran a new supply to them from another upstairs lighting circuit only to discover later there was a single mcb under coats near the CU and all that had happened was that it had tripped out. How embarrassing was that

once placed L-N-E in to a 3 way Wago Clamp Connector forgetting it was not like a 3 way chock block (dont ask) any way went to put lights on and POP, POP, POP,POP..! scratch head! blamed joiners for "throwing the wood into the loft they were going to convert" then noticed my wago and quietly disconnected while they were moving the wood about and been tidy with it..!

re made MCB and left! :) kept stum ever since!
