1. No code.
2. C3.
3. C3.
4. C3.
Though to be honest #2 is an easy fix with a sharpie or some left over labels.
At least the inspector didn't try to charge extra for fixing faults 2, 3 and 4.

1. C3 if board isn't located under a stairway or in an escape route. If neither is applicable, then no code.
2. C3
3. C3
4. C3 if supplementary bonding is present, if not then most definitely a C2.

Where does this stairway and escape route business come from.

From Electrical Safety's Best Practice Guide 4: Electrical Installation Condition Reporting: Classification Codes For Domestic And Similar Electrical Installations.

A C3 should be issued:

For inspections carried out after 1st January 2016: Presence of a consumer unit or similar switchgear made from combustible material (e.g. plastic) that is not inside a non-combustible enclosure and which is:

• Located under a wooden staircase, or

• within a sole route of escape from the premises

So no official publication then just a guide for those who can't judge the level of their own ignorance.

The lack of definitive codes and guides is PRECISELY why there is do much debate over EICR codes and reports.........

Look at my recent thread , a C2 for lack of CU labelling .....

Put 10 sparks on the same site and your will get 10 different reports ..... A bit like asking economists ...

I am strongly of the opinion that 90% of people carrying out EICRs are not competent to be doing them hence the existence of such Guides, your example is a classic case.

No, just a guide for those who can't always decide what the correct code should be for certain EICR items, and who would like some clarification. Ignorance doesn't enter the equation.

If you can't decide on a Code then gain more experience before undertaking EICRs.

The biggest plus for this guide is that Joe Public can read it and understand it ....... More than a lot of sparks that do EICR's

Ignorance is not an insult have you never heard the saying a wise man knows the level of his own ignorance.

I am indeed familiar with the adage, and it is oh so true. No inference of insult was taken. :)

Not to sure how comfortable I would be if I were having an invasive procedure undertaken at the dentist like a tooth extraction or root canal and he/she had a Dentists Best Practice Guide propped up on the side.

At 58 years of age, I feel that I already accumulated sufficient experience of carrying-out EICRs to be considered competent, but I'm always open to expanding my knowledge base.

Like many other electricians, I feel that EICR codes, like the regulations, are sometimes vague and open to personal interpretation. Let's put it this way, if EICR coding was straightforward and unambiguous, we wouldn't be having this debate. Indeed, there would be no debates about EICR coding anywhere on the forum because we would all be singing from the same hymn sheet.
