I've just finished 1st fix on a kitchen lighting rewire with a few socket removals and changes.
The property is modern so has dot and dab walls.
We've cut neat chases down where we need to and clipped the cables for the plasterer to fill in.
The couple have just had a kitchen guy in to quote for fitting and he said that all the cables MUST be in capping and if there not when they try to sell there house the mortgage surveyor will "fail the electrics" , it took me an hour to stop laughing, honestly where do these clowns get there info !!!

simple solution..., chase 50mm+ deep. enclose cable in galv. conduit ( earthed ), add steel capping, fill chase with expanding foam as it's not allowed to give plasterers anything sharper than a bucket.

1)where have you got `32mm conny` from?.. JOKING

2)why does the install have to have an RCD (TN) for all finals eh?..... I'd imagine the cables are less than 50mm deep in the wall and they say they've rewired circuits in the kitchen, shouldn't those circuits have RCD protection?

look....in all fairness to you....if you really dont know that cables can be surface run and outlet/s served by it/them marked appropriately......`fridge/freezer` maybe.....if you didn`t know this...then it isn`t your fault........

What are you going on about Glenn?? No comprendo!

Do you know exectly how meridian has wired this or something??

Seriously mate what is a piece of plastic capping going to do? Where have you got this rubbish from?

For god sake! Do you lot NEVER listen and understand?!

Plastic capping is God's gift to safety! It will protect against everything!

I always keep a piece in my back pocket in case I'm struck by lightening!

My hard hat and work boots are lined with the stuff!

Life at stake here, got to be sensible!

I go to sleep with some just in case St. Peter wants me knocking on his gates!
