Time to give up?

I'll give you my situation;

I've been at college since Sept, was laid off from my previous job around then. I'm 27 and simply trying to get a trade. I've been looking for any role as an apprentice for months upon months. Every week I spend a whole day phoning up through the JIB with a list of firms they supplied me, gone through the yellow pages, started looking around nationally as opposed to locally and tried the governments apprentice sites and services for the maturer student. With that I couldn't believe it when every service I phoned kept giving me numbers to another one and ended up with the last number being the first place I phoned which flat out refused to help me due to me not being one the "lost generation" (Spare me).

Even my own college flat out refused to help me due to my age.

Considering I'm on month 8 studying one day a week and done my exams and have another 2 years to go, is it really worth carrying on because quite frankly, it seems like a waste of time if you're older.

We seem to be taking on weekly at the moment , but that would a very disappointing commute !
Sorry mate was going to offer you a interview , but that just ain't feasible !

Bexley/Bexleyheath, that takes me back to my old hunting grounds haha!! Used to be a pub called the black, ...something or other?? Used to have some quite famous bands of the time in there. some Great times!!!

EDIT .....''Black Prince'', ...just remembered!! lol!!! seen the small faces, the who, long john baldry, rod stewert, to name but a few ...;)

Sorry for the repeat posts, new phone and still teething.

Think the last decent band that came from here was the Stones. Lol
I'm not a charlton fan ken. Lol
Bexley is near Greenwich-ish, Dpelectrical.

Mate i use to live in southeast london try an agency in Aldgate called PRS ask for a bloke calld Dave Haxell explain your situation and there will be able to find you something trust me theres work out there in the city you just gotta know where to look. Good luck mate

I am also in Bexley (small world ay), there was a few firms in Orpington taking on, and theres some sites in Dartford.

I saw a few positions on the job centre website. Also try jobsite and CV library.

Where are you based DP?

Buckinghamshire / lincolnshire .
We do have a pair regularly down and around the London area on controls and plant room refurbs but then they could be as far down as the sw coast the next day so that ones out .
There are jobs out there , just keep your pecker up mate !
If it helps ? As i have already said IMO your age is a advantage and what would impress me is if you phoned maybe twice but do not pester , were not greedy with your expected rate , offered to work a week or two at a much reduced rate as a trial , not that i would ever take anyone up on that offer but it does show willing on your side , too many piercings are not ideal a belt does help and not in a racist way but in the pronunciation way , speak the queens English and not street slang .
Again i am truly sorry to offed those that don't , but all of our clients want a electrician not a wide boy gangster wannabe .
I do not mean to sound better than any one else or conceited with this post just hope it is of some use to those who are looking for a break ?
