Discuss to earth or not to earth. in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

tonys.......... I know of around 6 houses in bulgaria with no earth and stayed in a few hotels hotels around europe with no earth too.

Well ...... You've just got out of the bath before you stick your fingers in?

Ok, call me sad but from the IEC publication DD IEC/TS 60479-1 a table of average body resistances was compiled for wet and dry.

The table is reproduced in Guidance Note 7 and the ranges were 575-4100 Ohms.

These measurements were carried out hand-hand and a reduction of between 10% and 30% is thought to allow for a hand-foot measurement.

Even using the adjusted figure, it would be impossible to trip a 6A type B MCB even.

Now how's that for being sad? ;)

I.Q ...... Not sad, meant as fun, I,m sure everbody on here has got the utmost respect foryou, and I,m sure you're right, I didn't know the resistance of a human body, I can always learn something new
But I'm determined to get that mcb to go, How about "you are wearing your wifes new aluminium foil dress" or "you stick one ear in the live and......" or - what other ways . anybody?

Ah you've got me now, the old aluminium dress combo!

Lol. but no one has come up with a need for an earth when all circuits are protected by a rcd. it is thinking outside of college teachings, rules and regs.

Actually, I listed 4 or 5 good reasons for an 'earth' but perhaps you didn't understand the theory?

I only say that because of your last post where you are still of the opinion that an rcd is fine without a form of earth.
