I

its my opinion

hi guys I'm testing a elderly peoples home I have all the correct readings on the ring mains however they are on a 32amp 60898 type b mcb should I grade as c2 or c3 or can it just be passed as satisfactory

Cant see how it could be classed as a c2, making the overall installation unsatisfactory. Dont ever work in care homes but as far as i was aware they are classed as commercial premesis so even a new circuit would not require rcd protection.

Dont mean to sound silly but are you confusing domestic and commercial regs? As i seen in your post that you said a 32a mcb on a ring circuit does not meet current regs? I dont see anything wrong with it, am i missing something?

I don't have any clear idea of what this guy is on about?? He's given almost Zero OP information and hasn't answered a single question on what his concerns are about or based on, with a straight definitive answer. Methinks yet another electrical trainee, that shouldn't be conducting EICR's, certainly not on any form of medical or sudo medical installations that involve elderly residential homes...

Ok, are you applying part p rules / legislation to a commercial install. You can sleep easy now

Part P applies Bs 7671 to domestic installations....it doesnt change circuit protection requirements.

To the OP...I assumed right through this thread you were referring to lack of RCD additional protection....now I'm not so sure. Explain.

When was it last tested and what has changed since the original install is this a purpose built facility or a converted house, if purpose built and nowt has changed whats the issue, if its a converted house you probably (should ) have more concerns than a B curve MCB on a RFC
