Went to a local secondary school today to install some additional bench sockets in the food technology room. The apprentice and I locked ourselves in to keep the little darlings out. We had been working there for a couple of hours and the finishing line was almost in sight. We were putting the cupboards below the benches back together when the door opened and two teachers came in. Before I could say anything the female teacher hitched her skirt up and the male teacher dropped his trousers and within seconds they were at it like wild animals. Now, this proves I have no business sense because instead of whipping out my camera phone and recording the event, we gathered our tools and excused ourselves on the way past. The look on their faces was priceless!
Right, this is the dilemma! We work to schedules which we have to try and adhere to. The job was supposed to be finished before we went home but now requires a return visit. This involves paper work. I now have to fill in a service report sheet stating that the job is not finished and a return visit is required.
Do I?
1: State on the report sheet that the work could not be finished because of the inappropriate behaviour of two teachers. This will set the cat amongst the pigeons because our office will charge the client for a return visit.
Or
2: Take one for the team and state that we run out of working hours and we need more time to finish the job. The problem with this choice is the apprentice has probably already rang all the other apprentices to let them know what’s happened and in the morning at the yard they won’t be able to keep their gobs shut.
Personally I prefer option 1 because it’s more exciting but the wifey has told me to keep my mouth shut. So which one is it to be?

I'd go for option 2.
Firstly the way the school staff choose to conduct themselves is their business, not that of a mere tradesman.
Secondly I would have stayed to finish doing what you were doing, either by trying to ignore them or politely asking them to leave the room, possibly under the guise of a health & safety issue.

Obviously unless you work in that industry it's grossly inappropriate for anyone to have sex at work, especially for school teachers, but that is an issue for the client's HR department and not for you to interfere.

pass it up the chain of command. then the onus is on your company to do what it thinks is right.

Whether or not what these two were doing is morally acceptable isn't the question and you weren't there to judge that, you were there to install bench sockets.
In my experience you can lock the doors to keep the kids out, but teachers will always disregard any warning notices and just wander in, so need to be told. I can't imagine your boss would appreciate you saying he has to charge the client for another callout because you and the apprentice decided to knock off early because a couple of naughty teachers had a bit of rumpy pumpy in the kitchen; I reckon he's more likely to tell you you should have told them to get out.
Then of course there's the moral aspect - what if either or both teachers are married? With kids?
How far do you go with blabbing about what you've seen while you're supposed to be working? If you see an office worker slip a box of pens into their bag do you tell the office manager? What about if you're working on an MOD site and you see something official you don't agree with?

"There you go Mr Brown I've fixed your sockets, that'll be £50 please. Thank you very much... Oh and by the way your wife's having an affair. Have a nice day."

What did the bird look like? The devious little devil in me would be tempted to try my luck with her!!! However if there is a problem with getting paid for not meeting deadlines then you will have to mention it I'm afraid.
