The bag weighs more than me now I swear I've thought about putting castors on the bottom and rolling it onsite. I have all my other kit in festool systainers and I've got the Tanos fold up trolly for them frees up space in the back of the van. Think I would be another subscriber to show and tell haha.

Bloody hell hundred odd quid for a tool bag !! I'm not earning enough ! Here's mine £20 from B+Q on sale at the time, I like it though cos its small enough to take up lofts, man baskets, etc nothing worse than getting somewhere awkward and realising you've left something behind. Fits all my every day stuff in just.

Is the Petzl for work or play?

I own the ultra belt model but wouldn't dream of using it for work , have taken it climbing all over and it is a great bit of kit. Use my old Petzl Myo XP for work.

I'm afraid to say it's going to be used mainly for work for doing Change overs, really like working with as much light as possible. sacrilege I know, was even looking at the Lupine Tesla as I could use it on my bike. looking at this one from silva as well

The Petzl will give you more light than I can think you will ever need on your head. You can still use it whilst cycling as it is more pratical in forrests etc to be able to look up and down the trail ahead.

I would be petrified to take it on site, it is certainly tough enough but would worry about it going walkies. I got mine for £250 from abacus international with great service, I found the non belt model here :Petzl - Ultra Headlamp - The Outdoor Shop for £219

Thanks for the link cheapest I found it was £235. Going to try and get it through my dad as he can get it posted BFPO and get the tax off should bring it down a bit more, around the £180 mark, almost sounds reasonable . In all honestly will probably get it and will do as you say and only use it for play. Again I know I'm a sucker for toys and tools

Only thing to keep in mind if using it on high power is that most top end headlamps are designed to be kept cool by movement, if you are stood in a cellar, loft etc then there is a chance they can overheat which can reduce battery and brightness. Get it bought anyway, on a lower setting it is still excellent and then use it for play on the brightest!

Thanks for that eskimo I did read that review a few nights ago from candlepower even though the silva is comparatively brighter I think from some of the still shots, the ultra has a far better flood lighting effect with a smoother focal point to the beam, Not to worried about the brightness level being reduced because of lack of movement. From the pictures on the review is seems he put the thing on full power in a completely static test. I will definitely stick to the mid setting this should prevent it overheating too quickly. For the mid setting I would only be using it for working up close and only use the high setting for looking across false ceilings etc and blinding fellow workers or inquisitive customers that want to look up in the loft whilst I'm working.

I have tried a few different boxes / bags, and currently favour a metal canteliver type for my main electrical tools, and a Bahco toolbag for more general tools. I'll post a pic tomorrow if I get time.

The BT style boxes are good too, I have one in which I keep telecoms / data stuff, but the top trays aren't so much use for electrical gear (designed to fit BT oscillators / amplifiers beautifully though)

Nice to know I'm not the only one with a tool obession !!!

It's a lot to pay but looking at the spec on that I WANT ONE!!!!! That'd save lugging a battery about when I went lamping. Oh, and I could use it for work stuff too.

stanley box all the way, the lid ridge is indispensible when cutting conduit without a vice, had mine 8 yrs and still going strong but too full for lid section anymore so threw it yrs ago

i have a plastic 18" box with tote tray for every day use stuff plus an open 20" bag. drills and meter go in a recycle crate. Have a crate in the car for not so often used tools which go into the recycle crate if needed on a specific job.

Just playing with the new headtorch. It's a real retina burna!! will definately only use the high power setting when I want to flag down a 747.
