hi guys. long time lurker part time poster here, job has been done. tn c s earth, outside lights, roughly 30 meters from db. metallic light fittings. should these have there own spike or are they ok with the earth of the armour? im thinkink they are small caravans if you know what i mean.

Never really heard or thought of a light fitting being compared to a caravan myself.

zs was within limits. im just wondering why we cant transport tn c s to a caravan, if we look at bulkhead light fittings as small caravans, far fetched i know, is it within bs 7671 to take tn c s to them? or should i have spiked them? its a sticky subject i know. just wondering what you guys think.

The ESQCR regulations 2002 preclude a combined neutral and protective conductor being connected to any metalwork in a caravan, this is primarily because under certain fault conditions, a potential can develop between the conductive parts connected to the PME earth terminal and the general mass of earth.

I wouldn't be concerned with bulkhead fittings however lighting columns set in the ground are a whole threads' worth of debate!

as iq says widdler. these are not set in the ground they are fixed to the wall. im not really that bothered but know that way when jobs just bug you, lol.
