TV point question?

Evening Guys,

Ive gotta install 2 x TV points ( 1 in living room & 1 in master bedroom. My customer is having an areial outside the house for freeview. How do I link the 2 tv points back to the aerial?

Do I run 2 x co ax from a spliter in loft? or do I run 2 x coax cables from outside aerial? or do you get a tv point that I can connect 1 in and 1 out behind the point?

inexperienced when comes to tv, coms & sat etc

Please help

I would say to have a cable from each point to one central point, perhaps the lift area and the main cable from the aerial to that point in the loft

I would run coax to amplifier in attic, then coax down to each point.
make sure you use an amplifier though, because if you just use a splitter, you lose signal quality

I done this a few weeks ago, after the aerial i installed a spitter about £3 and connected 3 tv's, all working fine. (freeview) I would have put an amp in the loft if it didn't work. First time i have installed for a friend.

Thanks for reply guys, is there a difference in the type of cable u use and can any of you recommend an affordable ampifier ( job already priced, I`m doing a rewire ).
If using an amplifier, do I also need a splitter?

yeah splitter in the loft is the way. if it works fine with passive splitter then all good, if not go to get a active splitter, stick a 3a spur on a lighting circuit in the loft to power it.

used this one on recent job:

it was feed from pretty basic aerial in the loft, output into 4 points,
all was run in cheapo coax cable from screwfix.

so far no calls from unhappy clients

i used rg6 about £20 for 100m, if all cables terminated in loft or where you can get at them try the splitter if not use an amp about £10-£15.

Always best to have an amp from the aerial, at least then you guarantee signal quality throughout. Plus there's an option to add more points in the future.

iv had a few jobs where iv had to go back and take out the amps !!! and put in a passive splitter.

where freeview has gone fully digital in some areas the signal was so strong it actually doesn't work !

or you have to fit an actuator to lower the signal a bit.

crazy ! lol

Had this also before, so may be best to try the cheaper option first... splitter will only cost you a few quid

Always use good quality, properly screened cable. Neever use the cheap brown stuff with the incomplete screening!!!! Daz
