Just visited a retired couple for a site survey. Last company that went round yesterday were Ultra Energy....I put my head in my hands as soon as I heard that. Thankfully they did research on them before comitting to them.

£10,500 for a 2.5 kWp PV system, income estimated to be £1,200 which I have no idea how they would do that. Free optimser and energy savings bulbs thrown in

Thing is the roof could take 7 kWp as it is 13 x 5 metres.

Please Please anyone that hears of Ultra Energy misselling and overcharging please report them to trading standards as they are the marketing company with the same employees from Solar Energy Savings ltd that went into liquidation (forced) in August.

Companies like Ultra Energy are the scum of this industry and they need closing down!

i visited a job couple weeks back. They had Ultra energy round before me. They quoted £9000 for 6 panels! again even though the roof could take 11!They were very pushy, manager rang while they were they etc, all they leave is a scrap of paper with the figures on so there is no trace back to them!Complete scum bags shouldnt be aloud to carry on. I got the customer to complain to Real.

I suggest this is moved to the private area to be discussed further. I'll ask to join the private area

Good idea to move this out of public view as what you have written could get you in a whole load of legal trouble whether legit or not but as it stands so far its an accusation on a full company that they could easily play off as a rogue employee and sue your butt big style.... tread carefully or edit the post!!!!

jose'll sort 'em out.

The problem is these type companies are usually not in REAL.

Solartricity, Solar Fusion, Kingsway Solar, Apple Conservatories and many more.

Companies like these are selling outside of the REAL scheme and therefore not dealt with.

REAL need to focus on the subbies these sharks use, but very little has been done since the start.

I am disillusioned by REAL and all the MCS bodies for not cleaning up the industry, however part P is managed much the same way.

It all sounds good this customer protection but if nobody is ever dealt with whats the point.

This has been a problem for over 2 years. Sales companies using dodgy and high pressure sales tactics then subcontracting the actual work the mcs companies who are real members.

Why cant real ban subcontracting of this type. No sale should be made with a sales company who know next to nothing about solar pv and use dodgy sales tactics

Boiler Room, Ponzie, Hustle, Grifters.......the companies involved in these all set out to do the same thing....Make as much money as possible before they are found out...

Its a numbers game......

How do I go private so I can continue in this discussion...

They did introduce rules back on the 1st December I believe that was meant to stop this from happening. It has to be the company that sold the system that has to install it.

But what is stopping a non mcs or real sales company cold calling and selling pv systems? Only trading standards can so anything about sales companies as far as i can see

Again its down to the MCS accredited installer to not take on a Job like this in the first place.

Got put on to a couple today from someone i done an install for back in FEB. This old couple didnt think to mention they were getting solar to them so the could put him on to me. Basically the roofs leaking and they think the installers have gone bump.

I went round today and this system 20 panel 200w conergy, was installed in august this year for .......£18,000!!!!!!!!!

SES had sols it to them with the 'optimiser' 9 panels SE and 3 SW and 4 panels NW and 4 Panels N-NE!

Not only is it a rubbish set up with north facing panels but the SE and SW panels are 1 string and the NE-NW panels are one string on 2 single MPPT Samil inverters!

The tiles are all cracked under the panels hence the leaking roof. The optimiser is just a V-Phase and its supplying the whole consumer unit (except pv)

Now although SES sold it as EPH, it was installed and MCS certified by MOD electrical. No insurance policy was handed over and they cannot get hold of anyone.

So are these MOD part of SES? they are still NIC registered for MCS. Would Niceic be able to provide cover for the leaking roof as they are the ones who are supposed to monitor them?

It really makes me sick that people can go round and rip people off like this. Even a woman salesman.

even better the SAP calc for all this rubbish is 3000KWh/ Year.

Good News....Ultra Energy have gone into admin. Their website no longer exists and quite a few people on the web who have had systems installed by them are now unfortunately stuck with systems installed/sold by a company that isn't fit to wipe their own bottoms let alone sell PV systems and that have now gone under.

Good Riddance I say

Good riddance indeed. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if going into administration was all part of their plan.

Someone remind me why I have just been forced to give my hard earned money to REAL again?
