I don't think they've been going long enough for this to have been part of the plan, and IIRC their installation arm went bust not long ago, so hopefully 'The Dentist' is now firmly OOOT of the rip off solar market for good.

ps I reckon this thread may well have assisted, as it appears to be 3rd in the google search rankings for 'Ultra Energy' above their own website, which I'm personally quite glad about.

tbf to the trades that worked for their installers, the actual quality of the workmanship on the job we were asked to inspect was pretty good, so this thread should not be seen as a reflection on their workmanship, the problem lay in the flawed design, bodged / borderline fraudulent SAP calcs, underspecification of the inverter, and the absolute rip off price charged which basically robbed an old woman of her life savings, with a system that will struggle to cover its installation costs in 25 years... (this was solar energy savings, but their sales teams and practices and ownership seemed pretty much identical to Ultra Energy, so I think it's fair to make the comparison on this thread).

Good riddance anyway, I hope the others of their ilk follow them on this path to oblivion and leave this trade to those who know what they're doing and care about it (again, no reflection on the trades that have the misfortune to work for them who will hopefully find better employment elsewhere in the industry).

Eco Home Renewables

We began selling Renewable technologies in 2005. Over the years we have expanded and opened many new offices and factories; for sales and marketing departments, research and development, manufacturing our own PV and thermal panels and finally our training centre for our hundreds of engineers across the UK to continually improve there installation skills. We try our best to be at the front of product development in our field at all times, making sure our product is the best it can be.

oh really?

Eco Home Renewables Ltd are owned by a 24 year old sole director, with a track record of 5 short lived marketing and renewable companies since May 2011 - that's 5 corporate identities this scam merchant has been through in a little over 18 months, none of which have filed any accounts with companies house.

Actually, on checking the MCS database, it seems that another company owned and operated by Scott Ewart, the owner of Eco Home Renewables - Global Energy Source Limited, is also registered to the exact same address as Eco Home Renewables, which begs the question of why would this guy need to run 2 companies - one that's MCS certified, the other that isn't, unless he's pulling a scam where one company is the marketing company that doesn't need to comply with the MCS and REAL rules, then the other company does the installs and signs them off, so REAL can't work out what's going on.

It's about the only explanation I can come up with for why the REAL and MCS certified company Global Energy Sources Ltd either doesn't have a website, or doesn't have one that appears anywhere near the top of google, whereas Eco Home Renewables is obviously the marketing front company.

If anyone searching google for Eco Home Renewables or Global Energy Sources Limited comes across this thread, please do yourselves a favour and steer well clear of them.

If you've already handed over your money, please remember that you're legally entitled to cancel at any time within 7 days of signing the contract, and receiving a full refund from them as you've almost certainly been badly ripped off.

If anyone from either company believes anything in this post is untrue, feel free to contact me and explain why you felt the need to set up a marketing front company for your MCS certified company rather than marketing your systems directly in a way that makes you easily accountable for your marketing and installation practices.

wow.

In case anyone was in any doubt at all about how much of a rip off Eco Home Renewables must be, this advert for a direct sales consultant spells it out.

Direct Salesman / Energy Consultant Glasgow Basic & Commission £75,000 +
Generous, uncapped commission and weekly basic provided. Up to £1500 commission paid per sale.
yes, that's £1500 per sale to the salesman who's using every trick in the book to get you to sign up at their vastly inflated prices - essentially he's intent on robbing you blind on behalf of Eco Home Renewables as if £1500 is his cut, you can be sure that they'll be making a lot more than that from you, and this high price won't in any way be reflected in the quality of the work or equipment, which will be as cheap as possible to keep the profits up as high as possible.
We are seeking experienced sales consultants to join us in this exciting and rapidly expanding industry.
note the requirement for sales experience, but nothing about knowledge of the solar sector.

Interesting thread just shows why legitimate installers get so frustrated with REAL & MCS. They perhaps should have a name and shame list !

Maybe these guys would be interested: BBC One - Watchdog - Rogue Traders

Anyone want to audition for the part of "Industry Expert" or confused old Grandad (or Granny!)?

It would probably be safe to hide in the loft because the salesman wouldn't go up there!

Just been to survey a roof in Jordanhill area of Glasgow. Lovely couple but roof completely unsuitable. Large stone built semi-detached house but with very small roof running east to west. East side covered by dormer the west has velux and two vent pipes and a huge four chimney stack.

Guess who'd been in earlier in the week. Our good friends Eco Home Renewables... Their sales rep had "recommended" eight panels on the side with the velux and four on the side with the dormer. You'd struggle to get three panels which would be in shade almost all year.

Normal price was £11,500 but they'd be prepared to do a deal for £9500 More expensive than the normal ones but would produce 50% more electricity than any other on the market...plus they would double the feed in tariff to 32p a kilowatt which they could claim each year on the anniversary of the install.

Here's the interesting tack. Sales Rep claimed he needed a cheque for £3000 before their surveyor would come out. Luckily they saw sense and arranged for other quotes...but how many don't.......

Please report them to trading standards and if possible REAL. They aren't MCS or REAL accredited I don't think so trading standards is to route to go

Any company or representative selling Solar PV for or on behalf of an MCS company has to abide by the "code of conduct".

From memory even discounting by more than £200 contravenes said code.

So you can report them to Real and MCS maybe, as they are not complying with the law.

plus they would double the feed in tariff to 32p a kilowatt which they could claim each year on the anniversary of the install.
That sounds a bit like the SES cashback 360 offer, I wonder who is financing that and how.

In that case do all you can to get the company reported to whoever you can. You could start by setting up a thread titled 'eco home renewables beware'

It'll be a cash back with so many steps that you have to follow in a partyicular order by a particular date e.g sending monthly readinsg in post all in very small print, a reading late one month for example will let them off the hook forever... Scam marketing..

waste of time, the customers that get caught by these people do not research the web first or they wouldnt be in the position in the first place.

Regarding the payback scheme, is it possible they say they will guarantee payback in 5 years (As ive heard from one customer i saved) but fully intend to fold the company within that 5 years? So none of it matters as they will not be around to honour it and they can rip as many customers off in that 5 years as they can.
